GoalThe goal of this project is to provide medical supplies and train nurses for the 13 hospitals that are part of the Congolese Baptist Community.
SummaryThis White Cross project seeks to raise $28,334 annually for medications, supplies and training nurses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
DescriptionImagine bringing your child to the doctor and, after receiving a diagnosis of acute appendicitis, being given a prescription for sutures, gauze, a scalpel, anesthetics and antibiotics and told to “hurry and find a place to buy them in town” so the doctor could perform an emergency surgery. People face such dilemmas every day in the Congo, where there is no such thing as health insurance. Everything must be purchased up front or brought by the patient—including sheets and supplies.
It is anticipated that this project will improve the overall level of medical care given to those who seek treatment at each of the CBCO hospitals.
